As we begin this course, one of the first tasks is to understand the security landscape—that is to say, identifying the threats and vulnerabilities that impact an organization’s information systems infrastructure. The concern for security continues to heighten as criminal elements and even nation-states use the Internet for malicious activities. This workshop is an introduction to security issues. The discussion also focuses on an organization’s user community, as users of systems are one of the weakest links in the security chain.
