Botswana Open University (BOU) organizational structure just got approved by the university council. Unlike in the past, this new structure meets the threshold for the university members of staff to be eligible to join a trade union movement. BOPEU as one of the prominent trade unions in Botswana has already approached BOU staff members with the intention to recruit them. This is a completely new phenomenon and it requires mind shift for the university management because in the past, the employees were not unionized. This new development demands for the university management to immediately familiarize with the Trade Dispute Act for purposes of compliance at the time of joint negotiations in relation to dealing with staff issues. BOU requires yourconsultancy skills so that you can define and thoroughly explain what the Trade Dispute Act is and its purpose. In so doing, you are also required to provide a list of employees that are excluded from the Trade Dispute Act.
