Hypertension (high blood pressure) is the main risk factor for stroke and cardiovascular disease. Twenty faculty members at USC, who were newly diagnosed with stage 1 hypertension (SBP $>140$ and $<160$ ) ar who were not taking anti-hypertensive drugs, were enrolled in a study to see if daily meditation training could reduce systolic blood pressure (SBP). Blood pressure was measured at the beginning of the study and again after 1 month of daily meditation classes. A statistician analyzed these data using SPSS and provided the output below.
