Exercise 9.2
A bullet is fired over level ground with a muzzle velocity of 1500(m)/(s) and it
strikes the target after 1,50 seconds. The horizontal distance s (in metres)
covered by the bullet in t seconds is given by the formula
s=9000ln((t+6)/(6))
Calculate (to 3 significant digits):
(a) the distance between the target and the rifle;
(b) the impact velocity;
(c) the velocity of the bullet after 1,00s;
(d) the retardation (negative acceleration) of the bullet after 1,00s;
(e) the time it takes the bullet to cover the first 1500 m ;
(f) the time taken for the velocity of the bullet to drop to 1250(m)/(s).
