Joe's Pizza Place is in the midst of a remodeling project. Both the kitchen and their sit-down restaurant are being remodeled. The project plan for week 5 contained the following.
TaskDescriptionDuration (days)Cost1Install new stove and ovens58002Install kitchen ventilation and fire prevention system54003Install counters53004Install booths/tables5500
At the weekly project meeting after 5 days of project time (duration) you the project manager learned the following.
The stove and oven installation are 100 % complete. The contractor worked and billed 5 days on that task.
The subcontractor who is installing the stove and ventilation system had problems and was only able to complete about half the work for that task. The ventilation contractor worked and billed 5 days on that task.
Of the 12 tables/booths to be installed, only about 4 were installed because of problems moving the wall that was supposed to have been moved last week. Workers installing the tables worked and billed 5 days.
The framing for the new counter was completed, but the counter top needs to be recut so the installation of the new counter is only 80 % complete. Workers installing the counter worked and billed 4 days and did not work the 5th day once they realized the counter top would not fit on the frame they had built.
Deliverables:
Assume a constant billing rate (cost/duration) for work performed, that is every day of the week is billed at the same rate for the total shown above. Indicate any other assumptions you make in developing your calculations.
