This project is focused in the prenatal and early childhood stages of development (Ch. 2-6). To become aware of the optimal prenatal care and early childhood development you will analyze environmental and hereditary factors affecting fetal development such as genetics, nutrition, substances, and stimulation and how they affect the developing child, specifically how these affect their brain development from the prenatal stage to two years of age. You will carry out your own research by doing a literature review and you will also interview two mothers of young children. The following is a list of the information you should gather. Investigate the physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs of the infant. Describe typical growth and development of infants. Investigate strategies for optimizing the development of infants of diverse backgrounds, including those with special needs.
