You are studying the biosynthetic pathway transforming 2-phosphoglycolate (2PG) into alanine in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. You isolated 5 mutant haploid strains unable to produce alaine. In order to understand this biosynthetic pathway, you are testing the mutants’ ability to grow on Minimum Media (MM) supplemented with the following compounds: serine, glyoxylate, glycine and 2PG.
